Study on Injustices Faced by Marginalized Groups in Access to Seed Systems

Project overview

This study examined barriers faced by marginalized groups—including women, youth, and persons with disabilities—in accessing seed systems within the Central Highlands Ecoregion Foodscape program.

SAFE Africa's role

SAFE Africa worked with implementing partners to map key actors in the seed system, including agro-dealers, processors, aggregators, and farmers. We applied mixed methods for data collection, evidence synthesis, and evaluation across the three counties, and conducted analysis to identify value chain dynamics, key challenges, and opportunities on both the supply and demand sides.

Scale and results

The assignment produced actionable evidence on inclusion and equity in seed systems, helping to inform more responsive and inclusive agricultural programming.
